Each resident has a private bedroom, but everything else is shared: kitchens, living spaces, chores, food, and all the woes and triumphs of adulting! Residents manage their home through weekly consensus meetings.

Income Qualification
As an affordable housing provider with grants from the City of Denver, The People’s Mansion is required to certify that its residents meet certain local, low-income requirements. Rent is based on the room and your income. There are 19 rooms in the building that need to fall between the following income caps:

*These caps are for 2026/2027 and will increase slightly every year. The numbers are also for a one-person household. Married couples or people with dependents will have slightly different numbers.
Potential residents will need to provide 3rd party verification (such as pay stubs or letter from employer) of current local or remote income that fits within the required ranges for their desired room. Savings and student loans do not qualify. Read more about our income qualification process here.
The five most expensive rooms each have their own private bathroom and/or office.
